This early fundraiser video for Fearless Phil captures Julie’s essence and enthusiasm for bringing this book to life.
The working title of the book was The Adventurous Tales of Philip Wells.
10 Fun Facts about Fearless Phil
#1. The book was originally written by Omuugn as a poem in hopes that children would memorize it and repeat it back to themselves when they want to feel brave.
#2. The poem was put to music back in 1983 by Omuugn. ♬
#3. Omuugn sang the story/song to his 19 children when he would put them to bed at night while accompanying himself on the guitar. 🎸
#4. The song became a fast favorite of all his children (even the ones that were older than 14.)
#5. Omuugn’s children sing the song/story of “Fearless Phil” to their children to help them feel brave.
#6. The Co-Author Julie Brown is one of Omuugn’s many daughters and sought out Phil Wilson (the world-famous illustrator) in hopes of having him draw all the pictures in this book.
#7. Phil Wilson agreed to draw the pictures in this book because he also loves to tell stories that make children feel brave and give them permission to dream big dreams. (And, he is the best artist in the world for drawing dinosaurs and dragons, gorillas, Yetis, cowboys, aliens, knights and mermaids, and all the other cool stuff you will see in this book, including the Loch Ness Monster.) 🦖
#8. Julie wanted to publish this story as a surprise gift for Omuugn’s 50th wedding anniversary because being married for so long is a VERY brave thing. 💘
#9. As a way to say thank you to Phil Wilson for such amazing drawings in the book, and for inspiring children everywhere, Julie named the hero of the story “Phil.” 🙌

I recently bought a copy of Fearless Phil for my granddaughter. She absolutely loved it! She was even interested to read about the author and the illustrator;)). It’s a very inspirational and motivational story for children of any age. I am going to buy a few more and give them away to friends with young children.

The artwork in this book is incredible! I bought copies for all of my grandchildren, and the response has been very positive. I was reading it to a three-year-old granddaughter yesterday, and she wanted to look at the pictures and create her own story as she went. Since the book is meant to encourage creativity and imagination, I would have to say that it worked very well with her! Thumbs up to both the authors and to the illustrator.

I ordered two more copies and gifted them to family for Christmas this year. My mother in law is a teacher and will be reading this book to her students. Not only is the writing beautiful but the art is as well. I could probably stare at each page for 10 minutes straight. Amazing job and I definitely recommend this book for everyone.

I am so happy with this purchase. The book arrived really quickly and I was surprised by the quality…. Being a paperback. The artwork is beautiful and the adventurous story will capture my grandkids attention and imagination. I’m excited to give it to them for Christmas and create fun memories with them, reading. I love when a book can capture a child’s attention and imagination while instilling in them solid, good principles.
